FEEL bad to feel good

Why do people love gut-wrenching, earth-shaking, heart-breaking movies?

My design is a play on the concept of making yourself feel bad in order to feel good, inspired by a theory called the ‘sad-film paradox‘ which explores why humans find positive catharsis, perspective and connection through sad stories. 

For the visual elements I wanted to draw on the experience of seeing something through teary eyes, and how everything looks at that moment right before you blink...and let the tears spill over.
